Tour Introduction

Trek beneath the world’s tallest waterfall, Angel Falls, explore the wierd and wonderful world of Mount Roraima’s summit and kick back and relax on unblemished Caribbean beaches on this Venezuela trekking holiday.

Towering above the savannah and tropical forest of Venezuela’s Gran Sabana region, the mysterious, sheer-sided Mount Roraima was the inspiration for Conan Doyle’s book ‘The Lost World’.

Travelling to this remote region via the Pemon Indian settlement at Pareitepuy, our 6-day, fully porter assisted trek takes us through open grassland, then cloud forest and finally via an unlikely secret pathway to Roraima’s summit plateau.

Exploring amongst the weird rock formations and unique plants of the mountain top, we have aweinspiring views of neighbouring table-topped peaks and their waterfalls.

A short flight then takes us to the Canaima National Park, where we begin our exciting journey by motorised canoe to the foot of the world’s tallest waterfall, the 1000 metre high Angel Falls.

Camping below the falls, close to the palm-fringed river beach, is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

We round off this very special adventure vacation with 2 days of relaxation amongst the stunning coral-reef islands of Los Roques, located 100 kilometres off Venezuela’s north coast.

Is this holiday for you?

This holiday’s grade takes into account the 6-day return trek to Roraima, which is at fairly low altitude. Daily distances are short and we will be walking for around 5 to 6 hours each day. However, on our 3-day walk-in, there is a fair amount of height gain.

Additionally, we will have to contend with generally hot and humid conditions, several river crossings and it will at times be slippery underfoot.

he trek to Roraima’s summit is well established and there is a reasonable trail to follow. However sections of this trail will involve some scrambling on rocks and over tree roots. This holiday also includes a couple of longish days driving, several internal flights and 2 short days of exciting river travel by motorised dugout canoe.
